Google’s paid Gemini Advance has a few features that aren’t available to paid users, one of them being the all-new video generation feature we reported on yesterday. Another one of those exclusive features, the well-received Gemini Live screen share feature, will now be available to non-paying users.
The Washington-based tech giant debuted the feature in March, making it available to Gemini Advance subscribers last week. It is a surprising move considering that it only debuted seven days ago, but the feature has been so well-received that it is now available across the board. Google has also confirmed that the feature will roll out today, so Android users with the Gemini app should check to see if it is available on their devices.
That said, it isn’t available on all devices yet. Currently, it is available on the Pixel 9 Series, Samsung Galaxy S25 series, and any Pixel devices with over 2GB of RAM or more. Although it is available for a wide range of Android users, a fair number don’t have access to the feature yet. For example, my Pixelbook Go, which has the Gemini app installed, does not have access.
To locate the new screen saving feature, there is a button near the Ask Gemini text bubble for Gemini Live. Once clicking on the live button, there will be buttons for the camera, the screen share feature, Gemini (which is replaced by a pause button when activated), and a red x button to close it.
After some initial tests of the Gemini Live feature, I found it works well. I did some very basic tests, asking it to identify where some apps were located on my phone, what widgets to place, etc., and it worked perfectly fine. The camera is still the most impressive feature, as it was able to identify a simple can of Pepsi and recommend some options to recycle it and where to buy it. The conversation was quite natural, and it was surprisingly easy.
