RCB vs CSK Match Highlights: The Royal Challengers Bangalore have played some great games this season, having shown great form and reliability this season under their new captain. Chennai Super Kings have been knocked out of the race to the playoffs, but might be looking to restore their lost honour in search of a few wins in the last matches they look to play.
RCB has won 7 matches already and can look to advance to the top of the points table with their win against CSK. This would also be the first time RCB would go on to defeat CSK twice in a single edition of the IPL, both at CSK’s home at Chepauk and RCB’s home, the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
RCB will be advancing with certain changes, as Phil Salt has not yet returned to the side, and young Bethell will play his second IPL game of his career. Also, the purple cap competitor, Josh Hazlewood, has been ruled out of the match due to injury as Lungi Ngidi makes his first appearance for RCB against the opposition where he started his career in the IPL.

RCB vs CSK Match Highlights: Insanity in the death overs from Romario Shepherd gives RCB a mammoth total after fall of openers

Royal Challengers Bangalore advanced to bat first on their batting-friendly home ground at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Virat Kohli once again showed some remarkable consistency with another 62; this time it came at a much faster rate of just 33 balls. Bethell also scored a vital half-century, the first of his career in the IPL.
After a hundred-run opening stand, the Royal Challengers looked like the most convincing side, but the back-to-back wickets of the two RCB winners got CSK back into the game. CSK reduced RCB to just 160 for the loss of 5 wickets in their 18 overs, but then came an unimaginable innings from Romario Shepherd, the Windies slogger, for the first time in RCB colours with the bat. He smashed Khaleel Ahmed and Mateesha Pathirana to 54 runs in the last two overs, thus taking RCB to a huge 213, as the big Tim David just kept admiring his stunts from the non-striker’s end.
RCB vs CSK Match Highlights: Young Mhatre misses out on an IPL hundred, and CSK miss out on a win this time at Chinnaswamy

CSK have not been the very best with the bat, as they could not chase this big a total and rather failed to do so even on much lower chases. The Chennai Super Kings have formed a new young Indian opening pair of Ayush Mhatre alongside Shaik Rasheed. Rasheed did not perform well in this match either, being caught at point from a yorker off Krunal Pandya.
CSK’s last match hero, Sam Curran, also got out cheaply in the powerplay. Ayush Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja sent up the order at no. 4 and smashed a hundred-run stand for the Chennai Super Kings for the third wicket. Young Mhatre scored a breathtaking 94 off 48 balls, as he got out in an attempt to sweep slog a slower ball from Lungi Ngidi.
Ngidi struck back-to-back in the 17th over, dismissing the set Mhatre and Dewald Brevis for a golden duck, which, though it raised some controversy, as Brevis was denied a review since he was too late calling for one, as he kept running on a dead ball after being given out. Though, when later shown on the big screen, Brevis’ dismissal was shown to be a lucky breakout for RCB.
Suyash bowled a stunning 6-run 18th over in front of CSK’s two most veteran batters, a set of Jadeja and MS Dhoni. Fortune favoured Jadeja more than anyone on this occasion, as Jadeja was dropped by Virat Kohli off Bhuvi on the first ball of the 19th over. Can you believe it? It’s Kohli missing catches under pressure.
Under extreme pressure, RCB pulled off a thrilling win by just 2 runs as Yash Dayal, despite having bowled a no-ball in the final over of the game and being hit for a huge six on the same, defended his tally of runs to make RCB the first side to advance for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
