Posted on August 29, 2024September 8, 2024 By rehan.rafique No Comments on GoPro Unveils New HERO13 Black and Compact HERO Cameras

GoPro has announced two additions to its camera lineup: the top-tier $649 HERO13 Black and the ultra-compact $349 HERO, both of which are packed with innovative features. These new models are aimed at both professional content creators and everyday users, with cutting-edge capabilities designed to enhance creativity and ease of use.

HERO13 Black: Performance and Customisation

The HERO13 Black is a powerhouse, featuring 5.3K video at 60 frames per second, Award-winning HyperSmooth stabilisation, and a redesigned 1900mAh Enduro battery that provides up to 2.5 hours of continuous recording at 1080p. A standout feature is its magnetic latch mounting system, allowing for quick, snap-and-go mounting options. The camera also includes built-in GPS, improved QuikCapture, and WiFi 6 technology for up to 40% faster content transfer.

The HERO13 Black is compatible with the new HB-Series lenses, which offer four specialised options:

  • Ultra Wide Lens Mod ($169.95): Captures a 177° field of view for POV shots
  • Macro Lens Mod ($219.95): Allows close-up shots with variable focus
  • Anamorphic Lens Mod ($219.95): Cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio for wide-angle shots
  • ND Filter Pack ($119.95): Adds motion blur with neutral density filters

These lenses automatically adjust the camera settings based on the environment, enhancing image quality in any scenario. The HERO13 Black also supports 13x Burst Slo-Mo, capturing 400 frames per second at 720p, and offers professional-grade Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR video.

HERO: Ultra-Compact and Simplified Design

Weighing just 86 grams, the $349 HERO is GoPro’s smallest, lightest 4K camera with a built-in screen. Despite its size, it offers 4K video, 12MP photos, and 2x slow-motion recording at 2.7K. The camera is rugged and waterproof up to 16 feet (5 meters), making it perfect for outdoor adventures.

The HERO’s intuitive touch screen and one-button control make it easy to use, while its HyperSmooth stabilisation ensures smooth video, even in action-packed moments. With a long-lasting Enduro battery, the HERO can record continuously for up to 100 minutes in its highest 4K setting.

Both cameras are compatible with the GoPro Quik app, offering perks like automatic highlight videos, unlimited cloud backup, and faster content transfers. GoPro subscriptions start at $69.99/year, providing additional features for users.

The HERO13 Black is available for preorder today, with shipping beginning on September 10, while the HERO will be available starting September 22.
