Indian women’s cricket team thrashes Ireland by biggest margin to whitewash series by 3-0

India women’s cricket team crushed Ireland by 304 runs, their biggest-ever win to seal the win and victory by 3-0 in the three match ODI series.

Indian women’s cricket team (IND-W) beat Ireland (IRE-W) by 304 runs in Rajkot on Monday. This is the biggest margin victory in the history of the Indian women’s cricket team. Batting first, India posted a mammoth score of 435/5, thanks to the centuries from Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana. Later, the India bowling unit showed their brilliant display to bundle up Ireland at 131 in just 31.4 overs to seal the win. With this victory, the Indian cricket team whitewashed Ireland by 3-0 in the series.

India posts giant total

Indian batters have put a show to post their biggest total of 435/5 in their 50 overs. This score ranks as the fourth-highest ever in the format. India’s starry innings were led by Pratika Rawal’s brilliant 154 runs and Smriti Mandhana’s explosive 135-run knock which also contributed to their 200+ run opening partnership. The century from Mandhana was also the fastest by any Indian in Women’s ODI. Later in the innings, contributions also came from Richa Ghosh, who added a quick 59, while Tejal Hasabnis and Harleen Deol provided handy cameos in the end. India became the third team, after New Zealand and Australia, to score over 400 in a Women’s ODI.

Ireland struggles in response

Chasing a seemingly impossible target of 436, Ireland crumbled under India’s bowling attack; they were being bowled out for just 131 in 31.4 overs. The Indian bowlers were relentless, with Deepti Sharma leading the charge by taking 3 wickets and Minnu Mani providing strong support by taking 2 wickets. Ireland’s innings was marred by poor running between the wickets and a lack of partnerships, which also contributed to the heavy defeat. Opener Sarah Forbes was the team’s highest runscorer, who scored 41 runs. Also, Orla Prendergast scored 36 runs and was the second batter to score the most runs. Only these two players scored more than 20 runs among all the batters. It was a dominating display of cricket from the Indian team.
