Today, I’m going to share with you my honest and long-overdue review of the limited edition Star Wars™ Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader. With it being a Star Wars-themed product, I waited until today to publish this article so that it would be extra special.
Before we proceed, I would like to say a big thank you to the folks at Orbitkey, especially their Press Team, for sending this unit, which made this review possible.
I recently had to get rid of the tabletop that I normally used for my unboxing videos, which is why I wasn’t able to make an unboxing post for this product, so I will combine that experience in this article.

PACKAGING
This will be the first time for me to unbox or review a product from Orbitkey, but I have seen advertisements and online reviews of Orbitkey products, so I had an idea of what the packaging would look like.
The packaging was as I expected, well-designed and of very good quality. With no surprise, it features a Star Wars-inspired packaging and comes with a collectible character card.
As you can see in the product photos that I shared above, the product was kept in two boxes. The first one is the regular box used for shipping & transport. The second one is a product box that contains all the basic information. It also had a cutout window that showed a sneak peek of the desk mat.
Overall, the packaging of the Star Wars™ Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader is of top-notch quality.
DESIGN & BUILD QUALITY
In terms of the design and build quality of the actual product, the Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader features a minimal, sleek design. In case you are not aware, the Orbitkey Desk Mat is one of their products that was honored by internationally acclaimed Red Dot and iF Design awards.
The product, as you can obviously see, is named after the Star Wars character, Darth Vader, and features all-black colours with small details in red, including a crimson red tab debossed with Darth Vader’s name in Aurebesh, the Empire emblem, and the quote “Impressive. Most Impressive.“
For build quality, the top layer of the Star Wars™ Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader features a vegan leather mat that goes on top of a 100% recycled PET felt layer. The space between the two layers acts as a document hideaway where you can keep your notes, loose papers, and other important documents. I’m very impressed with the build quality and craftsmanship.
INITIAL SETUP & COMPATIBILITY
Since the Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader is a desk mat, it doesn’t require much in terms of setting up.
To start using it, you just have to take the desk mat out of the box and place it on top of your desk or table. Then take out the magnetic cable holder from its box and place it on any part of the designated area on the top part of the desk mat, and you’re good to go.
PERFORMANCE & AFFORDABILITY
The Star Wars™ Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader does what it says as advertised. It works well as a desk mat and also makes your workspace aesthetically pleasing.
If you’re thinking about getting the Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader, you can get one from the Orbitkey website for $149.90 CAD, which is roughly about $108 USD.
The desk mat is easy to clean, just use a clean, damp cloth and wipe off any dust or debris. Please be aware and don’t make the same mistake that I did. Do not use alcohol-based cleaning solutions as they can leave white marks/blotches. My desk mat still looks fine, as the white marks/blotches aren’t too big and obvious, but you do see them especially under bright conditions. If you’re going to use a cleaning solution, make sure that it’s safe to use for vegan leather products.
I know it’s not cheap, but trust me, if you are looking for a nice-looking and good-quality desk mat, you should consider getting the Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader. You will not regret it.
CONCLUSION
I love my Star Wars™ Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader! It is a must-have for any Star Wars fan. It not only makes my workspace look nice, but it also helps in keeping it neat and organized.
By the way, one thing to take note of before getting your Orbitkey Desk Mat Darth Vader or any Orbitkey Desk Mat, is to measure your desk or table top area and get the correct size desk mat. It is available in two sizes, Medium and Large.
