Tesla Has Started Taking Orders For Its Cheaper K Cybertruck

Tesla Has Started Taking Orders For Its Cheaper $79K Cybertruck

Posted on October 5, 2024 By rehan.rafique No Comments on Tesla Has Started Taking Orders For Its Cheaper $79K Cybertruck

The days of having to pay $100,000 for a Tesla Cybertruck appear to be over following reports that the company has now started to take orders for non-Foundation versions of its electric truck. That means that people can now place an order for a configuration starting at $79,000.

The Cybertruck went on sale a year ago and as has become the norm, only the high-end configuration was available at launch.

That meant that the Foundation Series came with an additional $20,000 in upgrades while the plan was to offer the standard version earlier this year. That plan was later delayed, and it appears that standard variations of the Cybertruck of finally available. Electrek notes that new orders appear to have expected delivery timeframes of October or November 2024, so buyers shouldn’t have to wait too long.

Those with reservations should start to receive emails immediately, although it appears that they are being sent in batches. That means that those who placed their reservation earliest should be among the first to receive the option to place an order, but it remains to be seen how long this process will actually take.

The new sub-$80,000 starting price does appear to mean for confusion surrounding how much you’ll actually pay, though.

Despite the lower base price, which is under the $80,000 MSRP cap for the US Federal EV Tax Credit, Tesla makes no mention of the tax credit on its website. This could be just a clerical issue that will be sorted out, or it could be an actual issue preventing credit availability on the Cybertruck.

Regardless, potential Cybertruck buyers can now get their hands on an EV for less than was the case previously, and that’s surely a good thing.
